The last bit of Jan. and first part of Feb. weather has been a challenge . However that has not slowed down our fundraiser which is wrapping up. Over 5600 empty baby bottles were handed out at area churches. We are always so grateful to the Priests and parish staff that allow us to come into their churches and hand out the bottles for people to take home
I feel like this fundraiser has so many parts to it. It doesn't only involve Christ Child members. The community is involved . Our volunteers are not just Christ Child members. Many children that handed out the bottles probably didn't know much about our society but it was an opportunity for them to know they are helping children in their city and opens the door to a discussion about what we do. My grandchildren did chores during the campaign ,which runs for 3 weeks and then the money they earned they placed in the bottle and their parents matched it. Their small sacrifice will give a new mom diapers for her newborn. School children had "penny wars" in their classrooms. With their pennies coats will be provided to over 2000 children just like them. As the bottles were brought to the workshop we had many husbands helping to unload and carry the bottles . Many of them were able to see where their wives spend a great deal of time volunteering . As we continue and the coins will be deposited the pickup staff and banking staff will see what coins can do to change the lives of new moms and children in our area.
We thank everyone involved .
1 Corinthians 12. There is one body, but it has many parts. But all its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ.
